 The new mileage rate effective January 1, 2024 is .67 cents per mile. Therefore for civil process it is $1.005 per mile. In accordance with the provisions of Public Act 173 of 1982, MCL 600.2559(4), the statutory mileage rate that an authorized person is entitled to receive for all court process or papers served on and after September 1, 2005 is 1.5 times the rate allowed for employees in the State classified civil service or 84 cents per mile (.56 x 1.5). Mileage is computed, each way, by the shortest distance from the court that issued the process or paper to the place of service, not to exceed 75 miles each way. This is for miles traveled.
