Program Overview
MCODSA invites you and your staff to attend our Annual Fall Training Seminar. We believe that training is essential to maintaining the high-est level of integrity and professionalism in our field.
The Association has held training seminars throughout Michigan since 1979. This year’s seminar will be at Crystal Mountain located in Thompsonville, MI.

Presenters
  • General Civil Process Workshop by Attorney Don Passenger, Passenger Law, PLLC
  • Landlord - Tenant & Evictions Workshop by Attorney Jarrett Levine, Swistak & Levine, PC
  • Requests & Orders to Seize Property Workshop by Matthew Theide - Distel Theide Advisory Services, LLC
  • Legislative Updates by Jeff Kirkpatrick, MCODSA Vice President

For those of you wishing to become Certified through MCODSA, three Certification Exams will be available following the workshops on Thursday, November 7th. The Certified Process Server (CPS) exam tests your knowledge on the laws and procedures necessary to possess a solid foundation of knowledge for serving general civil process. The Certified Eviction Specialist (CES) demonstrates your knowledge of the law and procedures necessary to serve general civil process and orders of eviction. The CES is designed for those court officers and deputies who serve evictions and do not do other types of property seizures. The Certified Court Officer (CCO) exam demonstrates your knowledge of the laws and procedures necessary to serve general civil process, orders of eviction, and the seizure of personal and real property. Exams will be administered and collected after the Workshop for anyone that would like to become certified.

New to MCODSA or want to catch up with some old friends? The MCODSA Hospitality Suite will be Thursday, November 7th. This is a great opportunity to introduce yourself, meet someone new, or say hi to an old friend, as well as enjoy drinks and refreshments. The Hospitality Suite will be from 6:00pm - 10:00pm. Look for Suite details in the hotel lobby for room location.

For members of MCODSA, our annual membership meeting will follow presentations on Friday, November 8th at 4:00 pm.  The Board of Directors elections will also take place around lunchtime, rather than at the membership meeting.
